Liburna
Liburna, a standard ship in the Roman Navy. She was designed for speed and maneuverability by Illyrian pirates and adapted for the Roman fleets, were she replaced many older types. My digital (preliminary) version of a real project, both in progress:

Maiden trip / Proefvaart La Niña
La Niña made her maiden trip on July 27, Wednesday.
Behavior was as predicted and calculated, the battery ballast of 70 kg in the keels is necessary for stabile operation and smooth sailing.
Steering was excellent, La Niña turned within her centerpoint, the ducted propellers proofed to be highly efficient.
Points to improve: the pedal drive should be reworked to a light A-frame for rigidity, gearing is to be secured by drilling center holes, the port shaft seal is to replaced and the keels need protection during transport overland.

La Niña maakte woensdag 27 juli haar proefvaart.
Ze gedroeg zich zoals verwacht en berekend, de ballast van de accu’s in de kiel is nodig voor een stabiele ligging en rustige vaart.
De besturing werkte voortreffelijk, La Niña draait om haar middelpunt en de stuwbuizen werken dus efficiënt.
Punten ter verbetering: Het pedaal aandrijfgedeelte moet een licht A-frame worden voor grotere stevigheid, de tandwielen moeten worden geborgd met kleine centergaatjes, de bakboord as moet van een nieuwe afdichting worden voorzien en de kielen moeten tijdens land transport beter beschermd worden.

Cherries / Kersen (Prunus Avium)
The wild cherry trees in the backyard were grafted:
+ Udense Spaanse: sweet, large cherry, yellow and red. Ripens mid-July.
+ Inspector Löhnis: large dark purplish brown cherry. Ripens late July.
+ Annabella: big juicy dark cherry, white flowering in April-May, ripens early July.

Dead Slow (Ahead) – Zeer Langzaam (Vooruit)
When the end is near, the going gets tough. Assembly of the pedal power drive is nearing completion, an extra chain drive freewheel - spanner for the electric motor is foreseen. Electronic controls and wiring of the comfort scooter has to be transplanted. The rudders will be cut from sewage pipe and will be controlled by bicycle brake cables.
De laatste lootjes wegen het zwaarst. Het aandrijfsysteem is bijna gereed, de elektromotor krijgt nog een extra kettingspanner vrijloop. De elektronische besturing en de bekabeling van de scootmobiel moet worden overgezet. De roeren worden uit rioleringsbuis gemaakt en aangestuurd met remkabels van een fiets.
